Kiss Me I am Irish XOXO
Just in time for Valentines are Crochet Hearts! This pattern calls for Red Heart Super Saver but me... I always have to be different. I decided to pull out some Red Heart Gumdrop as I was reminded of the Sweetheart Candies with the colours in the Gumdrop line.
This is a really quick and fun little pattern to follow along. I think it's for beginners and beyond. I especially loved the edging of the hearts as it raises the edge a bit and makes the edges look professionally finished.

Crochet a memorable and deceptively easy crochet afghan. The afghan is actually granny squares that are changing colour once per square. When you look at the over all look of the afghan, you will notice there's a lot going on but to achieve the look is really simple. You don't need to tell anyone how easy it was, take the compliments as people may think you are the crochet genius.
The hearts in this afghan are actually appliques and sewed on afterwards. Luckily, there's only 20 of them on this afghan. The hearts are really easy to make as well.
Truth is, I have been avoiding this pattern for a long time as I thought it would be so hard to do... this is one of those projects that surprised me when I finally dissected it and really my fears and doubts were for nothing.

Just in time for Valentines are Crochet Hearts! Secretly, hearts have always intimidated me because of the shape. I had avoided doing the hearts for years but then once I actually sat down with the pattern, I realized how silly my fear was. Crochet hearts are so simple it's not even funny!
The trick to the hearts is figuring out patterns that have the right shape. The perfect circular motion around the sides and top and dipping down in the middle to form it properly. I found this pattern buried into another pattern. It's probably the most perfect crochet hat pattern I have found online.

This 17" diameter basic wreath is very deceptive. It's one of those projects that you think you can whip off 'lickity split' but because of the formation of the bulk that is needed to fluff it up, the project takes much longer than you may realize. This is happening as two of the rounds cause the stitches to triple up. This means for each completed round of this, the next round will take 3 times longer to circle as there are more stitches to cover.
This pattern has photos of each stage to show you what it should look like. At certain points, you are going to self doubt your pattern and potentially give up. It's one of those projects where you need to get nearly finished before you see the concept light up before your eyes.
Photos, as depicted in our graphic, are compliments of two fabulous fans on The Crochet Crowd. Many thanks to Lori Terry and Theresa Dufresne.
